From Start-up to Major success
23 Sep 2011 Many Start-up companies have found success and expansion from Cardiff Business Technology Centre. (CBTC)Celtic Technology Ltd is a company which started some time ago in Cardiff Business Technology Centre and is currently based in Cardiff Bay. It is now demonstrating further significant progress with the news that it has signed up for new accommodation at the Green Meadow Business Park in Coryton Cardiff. The company, which is essentially a specialist operator in a number of environmental fields providing design and construction solutions for the redevelopment of brownfield sites, is taking a 10,000sq ft Unit at the new development which will considerably enhance its level of operations.
This is a very pleasing outcome for one of CBTS’s early clients and is a classical example of the sort of growth and nature of company the Centre and the Council wishes to see thrive and grow with significant levels of support from the Council Services and utilisation of our technology-related facilities.
British Biocell International (BBI) also started in CBTC in 1986, selling gold conjugates, which are used in a variety of diagnostic tests, such as in elements of salmonella. The company gained a strong reputation and business grew, they then moved to larger premises in Llanishen Cardiff. BBI have been supported by Barclays Bank and from incorporation, through to MBO and now flotation. This is a great example of a start-up to flotation business that started small at CBTC.
