CBTC was opened in early 1988 by the former South Glamorgan County Council, partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The Centre is owned and operated by Cardiff Business Technology Centre Limited, a self-sustaining company limited by guarantee.
Operationally, the Centre is principally supported by Cardiff Council. Strategic direction is provided by a strong Board of representatives made up from Cardiff University, the Welsh Assembly Government and the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC).
The Centre provides access to a comprehensive business support package including;

Critical skills acquisition and development through the centre’s Business Development Credit worth £5,000.
